Decarbonisation, energy transition, climate sustainability, and the role of territories - first and foremost municipalities and metropolitan cities - in these issues, in compliance with the national energy strategy and the PNIEC, are the main topics on which the morning's work will focus.

On Thursday, 29 February, from 11.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m., the second edition of KEY - The Energy Transition Expo, inaugurated in the presence of ANCI Vice President Stefano Locatelli - in Rimini from 28 February to 1 March - will host an event organised by the KEY Technical-Scientific Committee and ANCI dedicated to "The point on policies, tools and actions to make municipalities' assets more efficient", moderated by Gian Marco Revel, Sustainable City coordinator, CTS KEY, Università Politecnica delle Marche.

The numbers of the Association of Italian Municipalities already say a lot about its characteristics. Over 100 years of activity tell a story that is rooted in that of the country, and grows together with it. There are 7,134 municipalities that are members of the Association, data updated to 1 January 2022, representing 94.7% of the population, numbers that speak clearly of a very firm rooting in the social, geographical and cultural fabric of Italy.

Decarbonisation, energy transition, climate sustainability, and the role that territories - first and foremost municipalities and metropolitan cities - play on these issues in compliance with the national energy strategy and the PNIEC are the main topics on which the morning's work will focus.

The session, introduced by ANCI Secretary General Veronica Nicotra, will feature the views of technical experts represented by GSE, ENEA, RSE and RENEAL representatives. This will be followed by the Municipalities' round table, initiated by Giada Maio, Head of ANCI's Energy, Air Quality, Sustainable Mobility and Local Public Transport Office, in which mayors - including the first citizens of Treviso, Ravenna and Imola - and local administrators will participate.

Among the topics addressed: energy efficiency, NZEB, in the light of the new EU "Green Homes" Directive, new technologies and renewable sources to be exploited, the integrated role of buildings and mobility, the challenging goals of zero carbon emission cities, and the combination of nature-based interventions and water saving.
