Giorgio Boneschi

Giorgio Boneschi is the Director General of Elettricità Futura, the leading association in the Italian electricity sector, representing over 70% of the national market.

An expert in energy, regulation, and digital technologies, he leads the Association’s strategies to accelerate the energy transition and promote a sustainable, innovative, and competitive electricity system.

With over 25 years of international experience, he has held senior leadership roles in global companies, focusing on strategy, innovation, energy sector development and regulation, and strategic investment management for digital transformation.

He spent 12 years at McKinsey & Co., where he led transformation projects for major energy companies across Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa, specializing in strategy, regulation, and operational optimization.

He also served as Deputy General Director – Chief Markets and Digital Officer at E.ON România S.R.L., where he was responsible for business development, market strategies, and digital innovation.

In Germany, he held the position of Head of Global Portfolio Management at E.ON, overseeing the Group’s digitalization efforts.

Prior to that, he was Director of Demand & Portfolio Management at Philip Morris Products S.A. in Lausanne, managing a $300 million annual investment portfolio for technological innovation.

He holds a degree with honors in Computer Engineering from the University of Pavia and earned an MBA with distinction from the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University.
