OCEaN and Med OCEaN: coalitions to reconcile offshore renewables and nature in European seas

Integrated, effective and participatory maritime planning that identifies suitable areas for energy, nature and other uses, along with the use of non-price criteria on biodiversity protection in auctions, are key tools for the sustainability of offshore wind. These solutions require collaborations between different sectors, actors and expertise to find shared and targeted approaches. And that is precisely what we are doing with coalitions, OCEaN in the North Sea and Baltic, and with Med OCEaN in the Mediterranean, bringing together more than 50 NGOs, developers and grid operators.
