The development of bio and renewable fuels: the commitment of research and industry

The replacement of fossil fuels with homologous fuels, characterized by a reduced carbon footprint, is one of the priorities of the future challenges in the energy sector.
Community legislation provides objectives for the gradual penetration of bio and renewable fuels in the various energy sectors such as, for example, construction, transport and industry.
So greater attention is being paid to the implementation of these fuels to be mixed with gaseous products (LPG and natural gas) and various processes and technologies are being studied for their production.
These fuels, both bio-origin (BioLPG, biomethane and BioNG), and renewable origin (such as DME and synthetic methane), can be used alone or mixed together and with similar fossil fuel.
Among the categories of products, that will be able to offer a significant contribution to the decarbonization process of the energy sectors, also considering the recent RED II delegated act, relating to the minimum GHG reduction objectives, we certainly find liquids and gaseous recycled carbon fuels and renewable fuels of non-biological origin.
The current state of the art of the technology, any critical issues related to their production and use, as well as the regulatory framework, will be the subject of the discussion.
